Interview with Mr. Stephen Shapiro

Mr. Stephen Shapiro

After 15 years in Accenture's New York office, Stephen M. Shapiro moved to London to lead the firm's Process Excellence practice in Europe. He has consulted with global leaders from BMW, Williams F1, ABB, and UPS to Lucent and Xerox, and was one of the founders of Accenture's Process Excellence practice in 1996. Shapiro has worked with external thought leaders including Michael Hammer and Peter Keen, and is recognized as one of today's most influential consultants in the area of process capabilities.

"Use a compass not a map"

What challenges will tomorrow's workers face in a world of global competition? What traits are necessary not only to survive but to succeed as a leader? Companies already started to define their strategy to be either international, global or transnational. Despite of how you name the game, it is all about connecting people.

In the interview with IM-BOOT (INSME's partner) Shapiro was drawing the scetch of a "'passion-guided' worker", who uses a compass instead of a map in order to find his (or her) direction.

Read more about his answers to the questions of IM-BOOT's editor about future work and how his passion-guided worker will cope with risk, uncertainty, change and rules in our complex world.
